Rock Steady Crew celebrates its 25th Anniversary at Monks Hill Sports

The voluntary run trampoling club, Rock Steady Crew, is celebrating its 25th anniversary in July and looking for energetic youngsters to join the successful band of bouncers at Monks Hill Sports Centre.

Rock Steady Crew (RSC) started from humble beginnings, training just
once a week on two trampolines bought with a loan from Lee Zanatou, a
father whose daughter Zoe was itching to start bouncing. The training
sessions encompassed just two hours a week but from an enthusiastic and
committed base, the Club has now trained over 300 individuals - some
going on to become national athletes.

Having built up an experienced and dedicated coaching staff, the Club
now trains three times a week at Monks Hill Sports Centre, run by Fusion
Lifestyle. Throughout the Club's career it has celebrated many successes
from winning the London South Eastern League, providing teams for the
London Youth Games, qualifying for National Championships year after
year, and travelling to international club events such as the Nissen Cup
held annually in Switzerland in honour of George Nissen, founder of the
modern day trampoline.

Looking back over the 25 years, head coach Lindsay Hedmann reveals there
have been many outstanding gymnasts and exceptional performances. Becky
Molyneaux of Lambourne in Berkshire was selected for the GB Youth Team,
and local girls Juliette Taylor and Naomi Martin Clark also enjoyed
international recognition. Juliette was a member of the GB Development
Squad and National Youth Squad in the late ninties and Naomi trained
with the National Squad and competed for England in 2002.

Lindsay, who is a British gymnastics High Performance Coach, also
competed at National level.  His last event being the Irish Open in
Belfast where he ended his career on a high point with a silver medal.

As a family-orientated Club, the Rock Steady Crew has seen many gymnasts
leave and move on but many have kept in touch and in later years brought
their own children to training, and recently Josh Lloyd, son of Laura
Lloyd one the clubs first bouncers, took third in the London Dungeon
Novice event.
