Swimming the Channel – Virtually
Ok, so they’re not actually swimming the channel itself, it’s in at New Addington Leisure centres' pool and and there are about 5 people taking part but...
On the 2nd March Tony Weeks a Watch Manager at Blue Watch in Addington will be dragging a few of his fire-fighter friends up to New Addington Leisure Centre to dive into the pool to undertake this ‘Virtual Channel Swim’. The event is in aid to raise both awareness and funds for the ‘Firefighters Charity’ and ‘Marie Curie Cancer Care’.
The challenge will involve 4 to 6 members of the Blue Watch swimming in a consecutive relay with a goal of completing the 1,344 lengths of the pool in about 11 hours.
There’s not very long to go before hethey begin.
