Fusion Lifestyle, the UK's leading independent sport and leisure charity and the London Borough of Hounslow are kick-starting an investment programme to improve three Hounslow leisure centres by inviting the public to view the proposed plans. As the UK's leading leisure charity Fusion Lifestyle is known for breathing new life into local pools and fitness centres.
Marking the start the programme, the proposed works will significantly improve and modernise the pool and changing facilities at local leisure facilities across the borough. Leisure centres set to be significantly improved include New Chiswick Pool, Hanworth Air Park Leisure Centre and Isleworth Leisure Centre.
Hanworth Air Park Leisure Centre is set to have a major makeover with plans to install new starter blocks for competitive swimming, a new tiled surround and a new surface and pool lane markings in the main pool. The flume will be fully refurbished, while the flume pool will become a learner pool with increased capacity for swimming lessons. The pool hall will be redecorated with special non-slip flooring added in the balcony area. The changing rooms will be completely redecorated and the floors and shower areas will be refurbished.
Isleworth Leisure Centre is another 'flagship' project. The lagoon pool will have special viewing glass so parents, carers and guardians can watch their children's swimming lessons from the on-site café; these windows will be specially made to include blinds so that privacy can be added to any private or specially arranged swimming pool bookings. The lagoon pool ceiling will be redecorated with new lights added, the main pool will have new starter blocks for competitive swimming, a new tiled surround, and a new surface and pool lane markings, the boom between the main pool and the teaching pool will be renovated and refurbished and the changing room floors and ceilings will be completely refurbished by specialist contractors.
Finally, at New Chiswick Pool, the pool hall ceiling and high level structures will be redecorated with the window frames being refurbished. The pool will have new surface finish and pool lane markings, the pool surround and benching will be tiled and the changing room floors and ceilings will be completely refurbished by specialist contractors.
The improvement plans were on display at the effected centres for 2 weeks from 18th September. During this time, members of the public were able to view the drawings and provide their feedback on the proposed changes. Members of the Fusion planning and management teams were available at drop-in sessions.
Fusion Lifestyle is the largest independent charity operating community sports, fitness and leisure centres in the country, and is known for bringing quality and investment to the facilities it operates. And, because it is a charity, all its incoming resources are reinvested in improving and developing its services and facilities.
Anthony Cawley, Operations Director at Fusion Lifestyle said: "We have made a commitment to nurture these sports and leisure facilities in Hounslow, and this includes making a serious investment in their improvement and upkeep. Our plans for all the centres have been designed to improve the experience for our members and the public, providing them with better facilities.
"It is a privilege to be involved in the running of these incredibly popular and important sites across Hounslow, and it is our role to ensure that they continue to serve the community for years to come, whether that's providing a major new addition to the site, or refurbishing much-loved tired facilities.
"The improvement plans will be on show at each of the centres, and we hope that the public take the opportunity to come and view these; we are excited to hear their thoughts. As an independent charity, we invest heavily in creating, restoring and transforming local facilities, and we believe communities in Hounslow will really benefit from what we are proposing."
Councillor Samia Chaudhary, Cabinet Member for Green Policy and Leisure, Hounslow Council, said: " At Hounslow Council we are committed to providing opportunities for all our residents to be able to live healthy, active lifestyles and improve their well-being and quality of life.
"Investment into the leisure centres across the borough will mean that residents will be able to be supported in taking up an activity, keeping fit and healthy. It also means that more and more people can interact more with the community in which they live."
