Bedford Families Get Moving At John Bunyan Sports & Fitness Official Opening Weekend

This weekend saw the official reopening of John Bunyan Sports & Fitness, following a 1m investment, with over 500 people visiting the centre to join in the fun over Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th February. 

The Mayor of Bedford, Dave Hodgson, toured the site, trying his hand at the gym,before cutting a ribbon to declare the centre officially open.

Visitors to the centre were able to try a range of different sports, including squash, Badminton,gym trials, indoor cycling, Les Mills fitness classes and even a roller disco.  There was plenty on offer for younger guests too, with a bouncy castle, face painting, treasure hunt and art sand crafts laid on in the huge new indoor soft play area.

Commenting, Mayor Bedford Borough Dave Hodgson said:"Our leisure sites being transformed for the better, and John Bunyan Sports and Fitness is a fantastic example of that. The refurbishment looks great, and the new equipment and facilities represent are a dramatic improvement for users."

Following the redevelopment work, John Bunyan Sport& Fitness now boasts a brand new 60+ station gym, two new fitness studios including the largest indoor aerobics studio in Bedford, a dedicated indoor cycle studio, sports hall,squash courts and a sports hall.  It is also home to the best indoor soft play in Bedford and a brand new Bickels Yard café.

The redevelopment work has been carried out by Fusion Lifestyle, a leading registered charity which provides quality sport, leisure and fitness activities to local communities, in partnership with Bedford Borough Council.
