How do I take part?
Trials will be held for all sports if necessary and competitors are expected to be of a reasonable standard and be competent in their chosen sport. Participants are allowed to try out in more than one sport but for the actual competition you may have to choose one over the other if the competition dates clash.
To enter the trials, all you have to do is pick up a Youth Games leaflet; which are available in all local leisure centres, libraries and schools near to the time of the event. Competitors must get a parent/guardian to complete a parental consent form and indicate which sports they would like to take part in and return it to the Sports and Community Development Team. You will then receive details of when the trials will take place.
A squad is then selected from the trials and will train together in the run up to the competition. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to improve your skill levels and make new friends.
The competition
The competition format is unique to each sport. Most team sports will have a qualifying round that takes place before the finals weekend. Individual sports may be run in a slightly different format. Details of competition format will be available at the trials.
The finals weekend takes place during July and is held at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.
