Its baby time at Hounslow’s Urban Farm

Hounslow Urban Farm Babies Goats Lambs Piglets Twin Kids Chicks

The staff at Hounslow’s Urban Farm have been busy over the last couple of days helping deliver all the new babies that have just been born. The latest arrivals include 12 lambs, 7 piglets, 2 twin kid goats and 1 chick and there is more on the way.

The twin kid goats were born on St Patrick’s Day and have been appropriately named Paddy and Shamrock.

The piglets only arrived this morning and mum Deidre, a saddleback, is doing well.

Farm Manager, Mary Wilks said, it has been hard work but it is worth it, all the babies are healthy.  We also have a Shetland pony and Alpaca that will soon give birth too.  The baby pony is due in May but we don’t know when the Alpaca will be born as Alpacas can be pregnant for between 11 – 12 months”.

As well as all the new arrivals, there are lots of other animals to see at Hounslow Urban Farm over the Easter period such as baby rabbits, alpacas, sheep and lambs, goats and kids, chipmunks, rhea, ponies, cows and lots more.

The Farm also has lots of fun events throughout the Easter holidays for children and families to enjoy.  From the 2nd to the 18th April there will be pig racing and animal handling.  Visitors will also have the chance to bottle feed the baby lambs.  The Easter Bunny will be paying a visit to the farm from 10am-4pm on Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday, and Children's entertainers are booked for:

      •   2nd April (11am-3pm)
      •   5th  April (10am-3pm)
