London Youth Games - Civic Reception

Mayor of Hounslow and six awarded people

Over 200 participants from the recent Balfour Beatty London Youth Games came along to the presentation evening, hosted by the Mayor of Hounslow in the Civic Centre Ground Floor Annex. The awards evening is the final part to the Youth Games season.

Certificates were handed out to all involved in this year’s campaign as well as medals represented by the Mayor of Hounslow. In addition, three of Hounslow’s own awards were also presented; the Most Improved Team, the Outstanding Contribution Award and the Team Of The Year.

This year’s decision wasd tough. In the end the Most Improved Team Award was handed to the High-5 Netball Team as they showed tremendous team spirit and finished in joint 5th place after some great performances. The Team of the Year went to the kayaking team who collected Hounslow’s biggest medal haul of this year’s games with Team Silver, an individual bronze and three individual golds. The indoor rowing team were the recipients of the Outstanding Contribution Award after they gelled as a team over the long day at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre despite being from completely different schools. The team, that was made up from individuals from other sports, had the highest percentage of competitors who took part in more than 2 sports each with Louise Cryan and Kulvinder Lal leading the way with 3 different sports each.

The Hounslow Sports Development Team would like to thank all those who have had a helping hand in the Youth Games without whom these great success stories would not have been possible.
