Craig Brown - Team GB Taekwondo
Hi, my name is Craig Brown and I represent Great Britain in Taekwondo. I have recently competed in The Belgian Taekwondo Open where I picked up a Bronze medal.
What do you think of the FANS Scheme?
I think the FANS scheme is a great initiative that could be vital in an athlete’s preparation towards major competitions like the 2012 Olympic Games, by giving athletes exclusive access to the great facilities that the Fusion Lifestyle have on offer.
How will the Scheme help you to achieve your goals?
The scheme will provide me with excellent facilities close to home which will allow carry out my extensive training regime.
Which Southwark Leisure Centre in partnership with Fusion best suits your training needs?
Due to their location, both Peckham Pulse Healthy Living Centre and the Seven Islands Leisure Centre will be best suited to me as they very close to where I live.
How will this aid you in competing in London 2012 Olympics/Paralympics (and other international sports events)?
The fact that the leisure centres are so close by means that I can train twice or even three times a day with ease, whilst the facilities on offer will ensure I get the most out of my training. Both of which will help ensure I get excellent preparation leading up to major games, increasing my chances of success.
What are your sporting connections with Southwark?
I started Taekwondo in the Buckmaster Taekwondo club (now called Fusion Taekwondo) based on Commercial Way in Peckham when I was 10 years old. I now have my own Club called Positive Impact Taekwondo School based in Galleywall Road, Bermondsey and Brockwell Lido, Dulwich. I also run after school Taekwondo clubs out of various schools in Bermondsey, Rotherhithe and Dulwich.
