Uxbridge Lido which is now part of Hillingdon Sport & Leisure Complex, will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of its opening with a Family Day at the open air pool on Saturday 4 September.

Throughout the day, children aged between 6 and 11 will have the opportunity to take part in a heritage workshop, which will last about one hour, where they will learn about the architecture of the original 1930s buildings, and the history of the lido movement in London, through a sensual exploration of the pool and its surroundings.

These workshops are free but must be booked in advance.

During the afternoon, games and a swimming display will take place at 4pm at the outdoor pool.

The evening will end with a live poolside performance, by London group the Gershwin Gang, who will showcase some of the popular swing and jazz music of the 1930s. The performance will take place poolside from 5.30 to 7.30pm.

Entry price is £5 for adult resident, £5.50 for adult non-resident, £3 for children, under fives are free. The workshops are no extra charge.
