Oxford City Council's City Executive Board is looking at the budget to see whether they can continue to provide a level of free swimming for the under 17s and over 60s after it had been cancelled due to Central Government funding cuts.

The free swimming programme was cancelled nationally as of the 31st July 2010, but due to the  short notice given by Central Government the City Council have funded the programme until the 1st of September 2010.

Oxford City Council's Executive Board will meet on the 1st of September  to see if they can continue to fund free swimming at set times for the under 17s scheme. 

It is unlikely the budget will cover the over 60s scheme and regrettably this may have to be cancelled as of the 1st of September 2010.
