Work has now started on improvements at Ferry Leisure Centre which will double the size of the current gym and replace all the current equipment.

The work will also see a complete refurbishment of the changing facilities and improvements to the reception area.
 
Plans are on display in the reception area and residents are welcome to come to see what the new facility will look like.
 
Councillor Bob Timbs, Board Member for Leisure Partnerships, says: “Our aim is to provide affordable quality leisure facilities that the local community can utilise on a pay as you go basis or by becoming a member.
 
“The improvements will really enhance the whole centre and provide a better facility for residents.”
 
Steve Holt, Divisional Business Manager for Fusion Lifestyle, says: “The centre with its gym, pools, sports hall and fitness studios is already very popular with local residents and visitors alike, but due to the popularity of the gym it was getting very busy.
 
“These improvements will ensure that visitors can use all the latest equipment without delays and will make the centre more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
 
During the work there will be some minimal disruption within the centre but it will remain open as usual.
 
The development has been funded from the savings created from transferring the management of leisure facilities in partnership with Fusion Lifestyle. Works are set to be completed by early November.
