Whether you use the gym, the pool, classes, Whippersnappers or the café, BLU - Brockwell Lido Users - is here to protect and improve your experience of the Lido.
Brockwell Lido Users(BLU) is a volunteer group of passionate Lido users who originally formed a user and pressure group in 2001 to ensure Lambeth Council were left in no doubt that the Lido was a much loved local facility that HAD to remain open, despite their efforts to close the site.
Lambeth brought in consultants and held public meetings. A Lido Steering Group was created with three of the six stake holders coming from BLU. And in 2003, Fusion was chosen out of three options, to create a "lifestyle centre" that would bring in enough money to make the Lido as a whole financially viable.
After four more challenging years, during which BLU soldiered away to make sure that the desired outcome would be achieved, the Lido as we know it opened its doors in October 2007.
Brockwell Lido comprises a beautiful Art Deco cold water Lido pool and buildings, wet and dry side changing rooms, a superb gym, three exercises studios and fantastic spa and sauna and a poolside sauna.
In 2013, we persuaded Fusion to keep the pool open over the winter for the first time and the following year we finally persuaded Fusion to introduce seven day swims.
In April 2016 after many discussions with Fusion, BLU finally got the Poolside Sauna installed for user sand in November of the same year Fusion agreed to open the "Whole Pool" all year round.
BLU doesn't run the Lido- that's Fusion's job - but we are here, as volunteers, to act on behalf of all Lido users and pass on your ideas to Fusion and to Lambeth Council, which leases the Lido to Fusion.
BLU represents you on the Lido Steering Committee, where major decisions about the Lido are made. We meet the Lido's general manager every month to discuss developments and raise issues, no matter how small.
But we need your input to be effective.
Join BLU and we will email you regularly with news to keep you up to date with what's going on at the Lido. We also hold an annual Users' Forum in the autumn, where you can put your views to senior people at Fusion and Lambeth Council.
BLU began life as a campaign group in 2001 when the Lido was in danger of permanent closure. Now we are working to maintain and improve it for future generations, as well as celebrating the heritage and history of the Art Deco building.
The BLU Committee members and Officers are elected each year at the AGM by BLU members.
We have an AGM/Forum every year which is attended by senior representatives from Fusion and Lambeth Council where Lido users have a chance to have their say on the running of the Lido.
BLU are the ONLY official user group recognised by Fusion, that represents ALL users of the Lido facilities. BLU works directly with Fusion on behalf of Lido users to resolve any issues.
BLU is actively engaged in protecting and improving all Lido user's experience.
It's your Lido so join BLU and show that you care enough to keep the Lido facilities open for all the local community and beyond, both now and in the future.
