Hounslow gets on track for athletics celebration!

Residents of all ages got a chance to be sporty at the Hounslow athletics family fun day event at Osterley Sports and Athletics Centre at the weekend.


Over 200 people attended and were able to try track and field sports and compete against each other at the event, which also celebrated the recent World Athletics Championships held at the London Stadium in Stratford.


The venue and event was organised by Fusion Lifestyle and Brentford Community Sports Trust, who manage and provide sport, leisure and fitness activities onbehalf of Hounslow Council.


Councillor Samia Chaudhary, Cabinet Member for Green Policy and Leisure, Hounslow Council was there to represent the Council and hand out medals. She was joined by British double Olympian sprinter Nigel Levine, who honed his skills at the Windsor Slough Eton and Hounslow Athletics Club.


Cllr Chaudhary said: "It was a fantastic event and everyone who came, got stuck in and enjoyed the different sports. There was a lot of competitiveness but also a lot of fun had by all.


"One of our key priorities at the Council is to provide opportunities for our residents to lead active healthy lives and enjoy more sport. We are happy to support events such as this, as it gives a chance to all ages to take up the chance of enjoying sport and being active."
