Oxford Ice Rink Skaters take to the ice at British Championships!

We are proud to announce that a selection of figure skaters from Oxford Ice Rink took part in the British Championships in Sheffield earlier this month, bringing a collection of medals back home with them.

Gold medals for Lily Smythe and Oliver Raikes in the Basic Novice Pairs, and for Lowenna Prigg in the Advanced Novice Girls, were joined by Silver for Leah Coley and Jacob Casey in the Advanced Novice Pairs.  Bringing home Bronze were Oliver Raikes in the Intermediate Novice Boys and Lydia Smart and Harry Mattick in the Senior Pairs.

Lowenna Prigg's win means the Advanced Novice Girls title has now been retained by an Oxford skater for 3 out of 4 years, an impressive result in a group of 19 talented skaters.

The results for the skaters were:

Basic novice girls - Kamile Mickevicute14th, Leah Coley 33rd, Alexa Hollyhead 39th

Basic novice pairs - Lily Smythe and Oliver Raikes 1st 

Intermediate novice girls - Ruby Lin 8th, Natasha Baillie 11th 

Intermediate novice boys - Oliver Raikes 3rd 

Advanced novice girls - Lowenna Prigg1st 

Advanced novice boys - Gregor Jeffery4th

Advanced novice pairs - Leah Coley and Jacob Casey 2nd  

Junior women - Arabella Sear-Watkins4th, Halah Thomas 6th, Ciera Turner-Frick 16th

Junior men - Brandon Bailey 4th 

Senior women - Bethan Whiteman 7th Senior pairs - Lydia Smart and Harry Mattick 3rd

Skate School co-ordinator, Jane Delange, commented: "We're so proud of all the skaters who took part in the Championships.  They all performed brilliantly, and we were delighted with the medals won too."
