Be Active Scheme Explained

There are two types of Be Active membership: casual and unlimited.

Casual membership

When you register you automatically get casual membership to the leisure centres offering the scheme. Depending which category you are eligible for, this means you are entitled to either free access or a 25% discount off the centre's facilities.

If you are aged over 60, you are already eligible for free swimming at all leisure centres.

Unlimited membership

Once you are a casual member, you can apply direct to the leisure centre for unlimited membership. This gives you unlimited use of all the activities offered for around £5 a week.

This membership includes the use of the pool, gym and exercise classes.

Monthly membership costs £24.95 at Fusion-run leisure centres and £23.50 at Downham Health & Leisure Centre. You need to pay by direct debit, which you renew every three months and one month's notice is required for cancellation.

Unlimited membership is not available for carers.

Renewing your membership

Membership has to be renewed every six months for members on benefits or studying in Lewisham. All other members need to renew every 12 months.

When you renew you must bring proof of your name and confirmation that you are still a Lewisham resident and eligible for the scheme.

Unlimited membership needs to be renewed every three months.
