Drowning Prevention Week, 15th - 22nd June 2024

Drowning Prevention Week aims to raise awareness of the importance of water safety whilst keeping it fun, whether it be at the beach, pool or at home. It's vital to keep yourself and your family safe around water, whilst still having fun.

The RLSS Drowning Prevention Week campaign encourages parents, schools, leisure centres and communities to use it's free water safety resources, to give children the skills to enjoy a lifetime of fun in the water, and our aim is to promote and support as much as we can.

According to the RLSS, over 400 people die each year in the UK and Ireland alone from accidental drowning., with June, July and August proving to be the months with the most fatalities.

Lee Heard, Charity Director at RLSS UK said "This year for Drowning Prevention Week we are aiming to educate more young people than ever about water safety and give children the skills to enjoy a lifetime of fun in the water.

During last year's Drowning Prevention Week 250,000 school children were educated in water safety using the RLSS free downloadable resources, click here to get yours!
