Over 60´s and disabled users get free access to gyms and swimming

Lewisham Council in partnership with Fusion Lifestyle offer Lewisham residents that are aged 60+ or disabled free swimming and free use of the gym through Be Active. All Lewisham centres offer specific classes aimed at those aged 60+ as well as a range of other classes. The centres run regular disabled only swimming slots as well as discounted activities throughout the centres. 

Lewisham residents aged 60+ or Disabled are entitled to Free usage at the following sites:

  • Bellingham Leisure and Lifestyle Centre
  • Forest Hill Pool
  • Forest Hill Sports Centre
  • Glass Mill Leisure Centre
  • Ladywell Arena
  • The Bridge Leisure Centre
  • Wavelengths Leisure Centre
Discounts apply to health suites, racquet sports and group exercise classes.

How to apply:

Resident who qualify for free over 60 access need to apply at one of the centres listed above and show their ID (birth certificate, passport, driving licence) and a proof of Lewisham Residency (Council Tax, Utility Bill, Freedom Pass).Disabled users need to bring in a recent PIP (Personal Independence Payment) letter, as well as proof of residency (Council Tax, Utility Bill)


Monthly and annual membership types are available for over 60´s and disabled users.  Please contact your local centre for full details.

*carers are also able to use the centre for free whilst they accompany the person they are caring for. Carers are there to support the user whilst in the centre and not use the facitlites themselves.
