Stroke Rehabilitation Coordinator and Bedford resident, Donna Whetlor, has been shortlisted in this year's ukactive Awards.  Donna, (age), provides additional support to stroke and exercise on referral patients across Bedford, making a real difference to patient recovery from serious health concerns.  In her 9 years in the role, Donna has helped 389 people.

Donna has been shortlisted in the 'Physical Hero' category in the ukactive Awards.  The awards are designed to recognise excellence and celebrate people like Donna who go above and beyond to help get people active.  The 'Physical Hero' category is for people who have impacted and inspired those who they engage with by proving that physical activity can have a transformational impact on health, happiness and wellbeing. It is designed to celebrate individuals that have used physical activity as an essential part of their life, to go that extra mile for their customers, colleagues, family, friends and communities.

Donna embodies the Physical Hero award.  Donna collaborates with patients, carers and family members to support with recovery and rehabilitation and has gone out of her way to provide alternative exercise options such as badminton and group exercise to further support those in her care.  She has created a friendly and accessible community, bringing patients together to create lifelong friendships.  Donna goes above and beyond on a regular basis often working with new and existing patients out of hours to ensure they get the support they need, when they need it.
